Artists@SUI take on the 2025 Summer of the Arts Fest

Instagram Feature Image for Artists@SUIIf you were anywhere near downtown Iowa City June 6–8, you probably heard the music, smelled the delicious food truck fries, and found yourself suddenly browsing all the art lining the streets. That’s because it was the Summer of the Arts Festival, and let us tell you—it did not disappoint!

Our Iowa City Day Program’s own Artists@SUI had a booth bursting with unique and creative items for sale. Every piece of artwork was created by one of the talented people we serve through our art program, and let’s just say that Iowa City showed up to support them in awesome ways.

One of the biggest hits this year? Our $5 t-shirt sale! We loved watching folks light up as they found something meaningful to take home.

But perhaps the most amazing part of the weekend was seeing the people we serve working the booth and connecting with the community. Watching our artists share their stories, chat about their work, and take pride in every interaction was something truly special. It was more than just an art sale—it was a celebration of creativity and connection.

Throughout the weekend, we soaked up the sunshine and good vibes, surrounded by live bands and enough food truck magic to turn any stroll into a feast. Iowa City knows how to throw an arts festival, and we were thrilled to participate.

To everyone who stopped by, chatted with our artists, bought some art (or a shirt, or three), or just cheered us on—thank you. Your support makes it possible for creativity to thrive in our community.

We already can’t wait for next year. Or as we like to call it—our triumphant return to last year’s favorite festival. See you then!
