Systems Unlimited is proud to share some exciting news. We have been awarded $15,000 through the GEICO Fastpitch Campaign, thanks to longtime GEICO associate Tony Sorenson of the Coralville, Iowa office.
The GEICO Fastpitch Campaign is a nationwide initiative that takes place in every state where GEICO has an office. Each year, associates are invited to nominate a nonprofit organization they feel is deserving of support. This past spring, Tony submitted a heartfelt recommendation on behalf of Systems Unlimited.
From there, the process became highly competitive. Eight GEICO associates were selected to present their nominated nonprofits to a panel of judges, including GEICO directors from outside the state. After careful consideration, the judges selected the top three finalists to receive funding. Tony earned first place for Iowa, securing the top award for Systems Unlimited.
Tony shared what inspired him to nominate Systems Unlimited:
“I have always been on the fringes of the disability community. My aunt had Down Syndrome and lived at Opportunity Village in Clear Lake. She was a huge part of our lives, as my mom was her guardian. I know Systems through my wife and son, who volunteers there. I wish that my aunt would have had the opportunity to be a part of Systems, as I feel she would have been able to flourish here.”
Tony has worked at GEICO for 23 years and currently serves as a Service Supervisor at the Coralville, Iowa office. We are incredibly grateful for his advocacy, thoughtfulness, and dedication to making a difference in the disability community.
This generous $15,000 gift will help Systems Unlimited continue providing meaningful services and supports that help people living with disabilities live their best lives. We extend our sincere thanks to GEICO, the Fastpitch Campaign, and especially Tony Sorenson for believing in our mission and investing in our community.
