Our annual Live Your Best Life Sensory Walk & 5K is back this fall! This is an inclusive charity walk and 5K, hosted by Systems Unlimited, welcomes participants with all abilities. We created this event for runners of every level, as well as walkers who want to get outside and enjoy a fun experience with family and friends.
Our gathering supports individuals with disabilities and mental health needs throughout Eastern Iowa. For 55 years, Systems Unlimited has been dedicated to breaking down barriers and creating opportunities for those we serve to live healthy, active, and fulfilling lives. Funds raised for this year’s Sensory Walk & 5K will go towards making essential repairs to the homes of people we serve at Systems Unlimited. Read more about this fundraising effort here.
The event will take place in Iowa City at the beautiful Terry Trueblood Recreation Area. Participants can choose from two options. The 1-mile Sensory Walk is an easy, accessible walk featuring sensory stations throughout the route to engage participants’ senses. The sensory stations include Scented Bubbles, Ribbon Run Throughs, Pop-Up Art, Flower Station, and more! For the 5K you will experience the sensory stations on the 1-Mile route but primarily will have a station free route to focus on your run and enjoy the scenery.
After crossing the finish line join us at our Post Party celebration inside the Terry Trueblood Lodge. Enjoy music, snacks, community vendors, and fun photo opportunities. No matter how you participate—running, walking, rolling, or cheering—you’ll be part of a meaningful experience that celebrates inclusion, community, and living life to the fullest.
