Systems Unlimited, Inc. is a non-profit corporation serving people with disabilities and other challenges throughout eastern Iowa. Our mission is to offer personalized services within local communities which help people improve and maintain the quality of their lives. Our successes have made us a recognized leader in the area and the field of human services.
Make plans now to join us for the Systems Unlimited Strides for Rides 5K. This 5K Run and fun walk will be held on Sunday, September 14th from 9am-12pm at the scenic Terry Trueblood Recreation Area in Iowa City. Proceeds from this fundraising event will directly benefit the individuals with disabilities who are served by Systems Unlimited. These funds will be used to help purchase a wheelchair accessible van for individuals we serve who are unable to use most city transportation services, or other means, due to the challenges of using a wheelchair.

Systems Unlimited was awarded $2035 from the Washington County Riverboat Foundation on May 21st. These funds will be used to purchase therapeutic resources, activities, equipment and furniture for the Family Systems therapy room in the Systems Unlimited Washington office. Thank you to the Washington County Riverboat Foundation for supporting Systems Unlimited and the individuals we serve!
In spite of the unseasonably cool temperatures and bleak, rainy forecasts leading up to the Systems Unlimited 25th Annual Golf Classic, approximately 90 golfers showed up and enjoyed “a near-perfect day for golf” at the Pleasant Valley Golf Course on Friday, May 9th. We were able to raise over $10,000.
Proceeds from this event will be used to benefit the individuals we serve across all three divisions. In the Supported Community Living division, we will make enhancements to some of the agency-owned houses. Employment Systems will receive funds to help with transportation costs so that individuals can have better access to employment and community outings. Family Systems will receive funds to support the mental health needs of the children and families they serve. Many thanks to the golfers and sponsors for supporting the needs of the individuals served by Systems Unlimited.
Tee off took place at 11:00 am. Veterans of the Golf Classic—the Gourmet Grillers—grilled up hamburgers and did their best to keep the food plentiful as the golfers made their way past the clubhouse. The Gourmet Grillers have been with Systems Unlimited since the very first Golf Classic and they do an amazing job! Our friends at the Waterfront Hy-Vee once again provided the hamburgers, chips and cookies for lunch. Thank you to the Gourmet Grillers and Waterfront Hy-Vee for their generosity and delicious hamburgers!
Golfers enjoyed competing to win a new Chevrolet from Wiele Chevrolet for hitting a hole in one on the 8th hole, as well as for a new set of Callaway irons, TV, and airline tickets on other bonus holes. One of our golfers came very close to getting a hole in one for the car—maybe next year! A favorite tradition at the Golf Classic is the Marshmallow Contest. For a small donation, participants compete to see who can hit the marshmallow the furthest. This year, Scott Wiley, won this coveted honor.
Golfers finished up around 3:30 pm, when they came into the clubhouse for hors d’oeuvres and prizes and compared their analysis of the best shots and scores of the day. Check out more photos here
