Act now! Medicaid Changes are Back and Moving!

From the American Network of Community Options and Resources (ANCOR):

Please write to your Senators today to ask them to VOTE NO on the health care bill introduced by Senators Graham (R-SC), Cassidy (R-LA), Heller (R-NV), and Johnson (R-WI) on Wednesday, September 13. This bill is a final attempt to repeal/replace the Affordable Care Act and change the Medicaid program into a per capita cap system, cutting billions of dollars out of services and supports people with disabilities rely on for their health and safety. The four Republican Senators are hoping to pass the legislation while the reconciliation process is still in play (the process that would allow this proposal to pass by simple majority) but they only have until the end of the month to use it. A vote on this bill could come as soon as next week – possibly as early as September 25, so please do not put this off! Click here to write your Senators! It will only take five minutes.

We must let Congress know we do not support this proposal! The bill changes the Affordable Care Act into a block grant system and also would change our Medicaid services into a per capita cap system (with a growth rate less than some of the health care proposals this summer). Senate GOP Leadership has signalled support for this bill in recent days and there is now pressure on GOP Senators to vote for it, so they need to hear from you that Medicaid matters for people with disabilities and that they should vote no! We only need 3 Republican Senators to vote against it.

If you have an additional 5 minutes, please call the Congressional Switchboard at (202) 224 3121 and they will connect you to your Senators – we wrote talking points on the Graham Cassidy Bill you can use on calls or for in-person meetings.
