SUMMARY:Group Showcase at ArtiFactory
DESCRIPTION:Please join us for a special evening as we kick off the opening reception of the Artists at SUI Group Showcase\, where we create radical inclusion through art. The event takes place on Monday\, November 10\, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Artifactory\, located at 120 N. Dubuque Street in Iowa City. \nArtists at SUI began in 2018 as part of the Systems Unlimited Day Program in Iowa City\, called Artists @ SUI. Their mission is simple and powerful: radical inclusion through art. The program provides adult artists with developmental disabilities a dedicated space to explore various forms of art. In our specific art program\, being inclusive is a top priority\, and we do that by providing the necessary tools\, instruction\, and creative support that are not always readily available. \nEach year\, the artists bring their unique vision into the community and shine as equal contributors in Iowa’s creative scene. \nThis group showcase gives us a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the amazing work created through Artists at SUI. When you attend this opening reception\, you will not only enjoy a display of art but also potentially meet the artists\, learn about their creative journeys\, and witness how inclusive art can be a bridge between community\, identity\, and self‐expression. The atmosphere will be warm\, inviting\, and full of the kind of energy that only a gathering of creative people can bring together \nArtifactory offers the perfect setting. Located in the heart of downtown Iowa City\, the space invites visitors to wander through the exhibit\, pause to reflect on the pieces\, and share in conversation. With the light refreshments served during the reception\, you can take your time\, enjoy the space\, and connect with fellow guests\, artists\, and supporters. \nSee you at the Artists at SUI Group Showcase. \nDate: November 10 \nTime: 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM \nWhere: Artifactory\, 120 N Dubuque Street\, Iowa City \n\nPlease stay up to date by following us on Instagram or Facebook\, and learn about more Systems Events here.

SUMMARY:2025 Festival of Trees : Grinch Edition
DESCRIPTION:Systems Unlimited’s 2024 Wizard of Oz Tree.\nCelebrate the season of giving at the Festival of Trees! This multi-day celebration transforms part of the Lindale Mall into a sparkling winter wonderland filled with beautifully decorated trees\, festive lights\, and joyful holiday displays that capture the spirit of the season. \nVisitors can stroll through\, enjoying all of the unique trees decorated by local organizations\, businesses\, and community groups. This year\, you will be able to find a tree with ornaments made by our Cedar Rapids Day Program. Last year\, the people we serve voted and decided to make a Grinch-themed tree for this season. They are working hard to make a tree that is so spectacular it might even make your heart grow three sizes! 💗 \nEvery year\, the Festival of Trees brings the community together to celebrate while also making a difference. Through the tree auction and product drive donations\, the event supports local nonprofits that provide vital services in Eastern Iowa. This year\, proceeds from the tree auction will benefit Young Parents Network (YPN)\, an organization that empowers young families through education\, support\, and community connection. In addition\, product drive donations will support Foundation 2 Crisis Services\, helping individuals and families in need of immediate support and crisis intervention. \nWhether you come to admire the artistry\, bid on your favorite tree\, or simply soak in the festive atmosphere\, the Festival of Trees is a heartwarming experience for all ages. While there\, make sure to admire our Grinch inspired tree made by Systems Unlimited. \nDates: November 14-16 \nLocation: Lindale Mall\, 4444 1st Ave NE\, Cedar Rapids (Old Yonkers Location) \nWebsite for more Details: Click Here \n\n\nPlease stay up to date by following us on Instagram or Facebook\, and learn about more Systems Events here.

SUMMARY:2025 Giving Tree
DESCRIPTION:Join Our Giving Tree Tradition and Spread Holiday Cheer! \nThe holidays are almost here\, and so is one of the most meaningful traditions at Systems Unlimited: our annual Giving Tree. This cherished event ensures that the people we serve feel the warmth and joy of the holiday season\, no matter their circumstances. For some\, the Christmas season can be a lonely time. While many people we support have families to celebrate with\, there are others who don’t. That’s where our Giving Tree steps in\, bringing holiday cheer\, thoughtful gifts\, and essential winter gear to those who might otherwise go without. This year\, our Giving Trees will be available on Monday\, November 24.  \nHow Does Our Giving Tree Work? \nIf you haven’t participated in a Giving Tree before\, here’s how it works. Beginning the week of Thanksgiving\, a festive tree will be set up in our Cedar Rapids and Iowa City locations with ornaments hanging from its branches. Each ornament will feature a unique gift wish or need from someone we provide services to\, and here’s where you come in! Simply choose an ornament that resonates with you\, purchase the item listed on it\, and return it to us. We’ll take it from there\, making sure your gift reaches its intended recipient in time for Christmas. \nEach gift chosen is carefully thought out and truly brings a personal touch. It could be a special book\, a warm blanket\, or an art kit for a budding artist. Sometimes\, it’s a set of cozy pajamas or a beloved snack—small things that\, for someone\, can mean everything. \nMore Than Just Gifts: Supporting Essential Needs \nWhile the Giving Tree ornaments cover thoughtful and heartfelt holiday gifts\, our Giving Tree Fund takes it one step further\, covering essential winter needs as well. Each year\, through community donations\, we aim to ensure that everyone we serve is well-equipped to handle the cold months ahead. Through your generosity\, our Giving Tree Fund provides for winter jackets\, snow boots\, gloves\, hats\, and other seasonal necessities. For someone who might face long walks or waits at bus stops\, these items are critical for safety and comfort. \nYour support in this initiative does more than just make Christmas morning brighter—it also helps us meet real needs that make a difference all winter long. It’s a simple way to ensure that everyone we support has not only a happy holiday but also the essentials to stay warm and safe during the colder months. \nGiving Made Easy \nParticipating in the Giving Tree is simple and meaningful\, with options to fit everyone’s preferences. Here’s how to get involved: \n1. Claim an Ornament: Starting the week of Thanksgiving\, come to Systems Unlimited\, visit our Giving Tree at our Cedar Rapids or Iowa City office\, and choose an ornament. Each one has a specific gift request on it\, giving you the chance to fulfill a personal wish for someone we support. If you are unable to make it to an office\, but want to participate\, email marketing@sui.org  \n2. Make a Donation: If you’re pressed for time or not able to pick up an ornament\, you can still contribute by donating directly to the Giving Tree Fund. This fund covers essential needs like winter coats\, boots\, and gloves\, items that help keep people warm and safe all season. Donate to the Giving Tree Fund Here. When donating\, make sure to put in the notes “For the Giving Tree”. \n3. Spread the Word: Invite your friends\, family\, or colleagues to join in! The more people involved\, the more impact we can make together. \nThank you for being part of this tradition. Here’s to making it a season to remember for everyone! \n\nKeep up to date on Systems Unlimited by following us on Facebook\, Instagram\, and viewing our upcoming events

SUMMARY:Hill Day: Advocacy Effort (Invite Only)
DESCRIPTION:Systems Unlimited Group at Hills Day in 2025\nA number of people we serve and Systems staff will be participating in Hill Day at the Iowa State Capitol\, joining fellow advocates from across the state to elevate the voices of Iowans with disabilities and the providers who support them. Together\, we’ll connect with legislators\, share real stories\, and advocate for policies that strengthen community-based services and ensure people have the support they need to live full\, meaningful lives. \nOne of the key priorities we’ll be championing is the Work Without Worry bill. This legislation is focused on removing barriers that can discourage people with disabilities from pursuing employment. By advancing Work Without Worry\, we are advocating for policies that make it possible for individuals to work\, earn income\, and build independence without risking the services they rely on. \nWhen: Monday\, March 16th \nWhere: Iowa State Capitol \nHill Day is an invite-only event that brings providers\, self-advocates\, and partners together in a unified effort to support meaningful policy change. \nTo learn more about the broader policy priorities being discussed\, visit the Iowa Providers Policy Priorities page \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nStay up to date on Systems Unlimited events by visiting our Events Page
