This cherished event ensures that the people we serve feel the warmth and joy of the holiday season\, no matter their circumstances. For some\, the Christmas season can be a lonely time. While many people we support have families to celebrate with\, there are others who don’t. That’s where our Giving Tree steps in—bringing holiday cheer\, thoughtful gifts\, and essential winter gear to those who might otherwise go without. \nHow Does Our Giving Tree Work? \nIf you haven’t participated in a Giving Tree before\, here’s how it works. Beginning the week of Thanksgiving\, a festive tree will be set up in our Cedar Rapids and Iowa City locations with ornaments hanging from its branches. Each ornament will feature a unique gift wish or need from someone we provide services to\, and here’s where you come in! Simply choose an ornament that resonates with you\, purchase the item listed on it\, and return it to us. We’ll take it from there\, making sure your gift reaches its intended recipient in time for Christmas. \nEach gift chosen is carefully thought out and truly brings a personal touch. It could be a special book\, a warm blanket\, or an art kit for a budding artist. Sometimes\, it’s a set of cozy pajamas or a beloved snack—small things that\, for someone can mean everything. \nMore Than Just Gifts: Supporting Essential Needs \nWhile the Giving Tree ornaments cover thoughtful and heartfelt holiday gifts\, our Giving Tree Fund takes it one step further\, covering essential winter needs as well. Each year\, through community donations\, we aim to ensure that everyone we serve is well-equipped to handle the cold months ahead. Through your generosity\, our Giving Tree Fund provides for winter jackets\, snow boots\, gloves\, hats\, and other seasonal necessities. For someone who might face long walks or waits at bus stops\, these items are critical for safety and comfort. \nYour support in this initiative does more than just make Christmas morning brighter—it also helps us meet real needs that make a difference all winter long. It’s a simple way to ensure that everyone we support has not only a happy holiday but also the essentials to stay warm and safe during the colder months. \nGiving Made Easy \nParticipating in the Giving Tree is simple and meaningful\, with options to fit everyone’s preference. Here’s how to get involved: \n1. Claim an Ornament: Starting the week of Thanksgiving\, come to Systems Unlimited\, visit our Giving Tree at our Cedar Rapids or Iowa City office\, and choose an ornament. Each one has a specific gift request on it\, giving you the chance to fulfill a personal wish for someone we support. If you are unable to make it to an office\, but want to participate\, email marketing@sui.org  \n2. Make a Donation: If you’re pressed for time or not able to pick up an ornament\, you can still contribute by donating directly to the Giving Tree Fund. This fund covers essential needs like winter coats\, boots\, and gloves—items that help keep people warm and safe all season. Donate to the Giving Tree Fund Here. When making a donation\, makes sure to put in the notes “For the Giving Tree”. \n3. Spread the Word: Invite your friends\, family\, or colleagues to join in!
