Friends of SUI
Dear Friends of Systems Unlimited, Inc,
In June of 1971, Systems Unlimited Inc. (SUI) was created by a group of local citizens with one simple goal in mind—enhancing the lives of individuals with disabilities. In the years since, SUI has grown exponentially, and that could not have occurred without countless hours of volunteer work from a group of dedicated people from both inside and outside the agency.
The current economic situation and changes to the Medicaid program have created new challenges for SUI, though we have not wavered from our mission of: “Promoting dignity and growth for people with disabilities and mental health needs.”
Our Resource Development committee, made up of many of our Board of directors, is looking to gather supporters of SUI together to form a “Friends of SUI” group. This group of volunteer advocates would help SUI by donating their time and talents to assist in one or more of the following areas: event planning, grant writing, fundraising, advocacy at the local, state and national level, and in helping generate community awareness about the people we serve and their needs. The insights and skill set that you possess can help us in a myriad of ways, and we are hopeful that you will consider joining this group.
If you are interested and/or need additional information please email email@example.com or call Phil White at 319-651-6549. We will be having a kick-off meeting for this group on March 19 at 6:00 pm, at SUI: 2533 Scott Boulevard SE, Iowa City. The Resource Development Committee, along with SUI staff representatives, will discuss SUI’s current needs and further examine areas where this group can lend assistance directly to the people we serve. Please plan to attend, no RSVP necessary. If there is enough expressed interest we will also meet in Marion on a later date, please let us know your preference.
Again, we hope that you will follow in the footsteps of our founders and respond positively to this call to action. Please help us assure the continued compassionate and safe care for the people we love.
Thank you for your time and consideration,
The Resource Development Committee;
Phil White, Tom Braverman, Scott Enyart, Connie Haneline
