Wine Gala and Auction

Join us on Friday, February 3, from 7 pm - 10 pm at the Sheraton Dean Ballroom in downtown Iowa City.

Area wineries and wine distributors Glazers, Okoboji, Ardon Creek Winery, Fleck Sales, Dimitri Wine & Spirits, and 7G Distributors will all be on hand to provide samples of their latest wines. Light hors d'oevers will be catered by the Sheraton Hotel. As always, there will be live music accompaniment with piano and a string quartet.

Tickets are $35 in advance or $40 the day of the event.

Holiday Giving Tree "Wraps Up"

The Holiday Giving Tree is all "wrapped up" for this year! There are 41 individuals from the Supported Community Living Division that will receive gifts that otherwise may not have. Family Systems headed up their own effort this year providing gifts and groceries to a lot of the children and families we serve.

In addition, there were over 40 Fareway gift cards purchased for individuals in both the Family Systems and Supported Community Living Divisions. We could not have done this without the help of our community! You have made a big difference in many lives through your generous monetary donations and gifts.

One of our employees writes, "We've given out some of those gifts, and the smiles on people's faces are totally awesome, and the pure joy and excitement with their gift! Thanks to those who bought awesome gifts, and wrapped them so pretty, for us to deliver too! They are making people's days."

Another employee writes, "Thank you for your help. Families were very happy that someone thought about them. It made my day seeing the smile on the faces of these individuals."

"Walk So We Can Ride" Benefit

October 1, 2011 marked Systems' first-ever benefit walk. This year's event was called "Walk So We Can Ride," with proceeds going toward the purchase of accessible vehicles. There was a great turnout at Coral Ridge Mall for the walk, and we raised over $8,000!

Early-bird visitors to the mall's food court were no doubt intrigued at the site of the enthusiastic walkers proudly wearing blue Systems Unlimited Walk So We Can Ride t-shirts. The Walk & Rollers from Team ES impressed everyone with their competitive spirit and sense of style - they raised the most funds as a team and even designed their own t-shirts. Way to go, Team ES!

Thanks to everyone who participated in the benefit, and special thanks to the Walk Committee Members: Tom Wade, Amy Kirkman, Angela Yancy, Lanna Carroll, Lora Baughman and Brooke Schlabaugh.
