Bloomsbury Farm

ATKINS, IA September 1, 2006 Bloomsbury Family Farm will hold it’s second annual Haunted Corn Path, “SCREAM ACRES” on Fridays and Saturdays, October 13, 14, 20, 21, 27, 28. Bloomsbury Farm is one of Iowa’s largest agritainment facilities. It is located at 3260 69th St. Atkins, Iowa - approximately 13 miles west off of highway 30 from Cedar Rapids. The general public, clubs, organizations and kids of all ages are welcome to purchase tickets for $9.00 at the door.

In 2005, over 3,500 people went through the Haunted Corn Path. More are expected this year. “This SPOOKTACULAR Haunted Corn Path will surely SCARE the bejezzes out of you.” says Karen Petersen, owner of Bloomsbury Farms.

During the approximately 20 minutes you spend on the path you will be entertained with great special effects, top of the line technology in sound and mechanical effects along with over 35 actors and monsters in the field. You will certainly need some tissue and want to call your mommy before it is all over.

Adding to the Bloomsbury Farms fall events is a Scarecrow Decorating Contest. Join businesses in sponsoring a scarecrow for $25.00. Build your scarecrow at Bloomsbury Farms, September 25- October 1. Bloomsbury will supply the hay and have some clothing…you make your scarecrow creative. Judging will take place October 2. 1 st place winner will receive a corporate sponsorship worth $250.00 for Snowflakes and Strings Wine Gala & Auction (see benefits at www.sui.org/winegala.) 2nd place winner will receive 10 passes to Bloomsbury Farms, worth $90.00 and 3 rd place winner will receive a $50.00 gift basket delivered to their place of business.

A percentage of this year Haunted Corn Path and Scarecrow Decorating Contest proceeds are going to Systems Unlimited, an Eastern Iowa non-profit, serving children and adults with disabilities as well as children and families that are part of the child welfare system. Systems Unlimited was founded on the principle of individualized services in local communities. All children deserve to grow up in a safe and loving family environment. All children and adults with disabilities have the right to live in the community despite their physical or cognitive challenges. All citizens who are aging deserve the opportunity to continue to live in their own homes as long as possible.
