Family Support Staff
MISSION

PROGRAM ASSIGNMENT:
Family Systems
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR:
Family Systems Supervisor
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Preference of a BA/BS from an accredited College or University or a related field. A valid driver's license and a driving record acceptable from a risk management perspective is required. Must be at least 18 years of age.

GENERAL DUTIES:
- Consistently attend staff meetings and supervision.
- Meet training requirements as determined by supervisor.
- Document services in a timely and accurate manner.
- Meet or exceed productivity guidelines.
- Communicate consistently with supervisor, children, parents, case manager, community professionals etc.
- Establish and maintain professional boundaries in all areas of job responsibilites.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Children’s Mental Health-Family Community Support Services:
- Follow Implementation Plan or Outcome Achievement Plan developed by a case manager or Family Systems staff.
- Support children and their family members by developing and implementing strategies and interventions to assist in increasing their social and emotional strength.
- Develop and maintain a crisis support network for the child and his/her family.
- Model and coach effective coping strategies for the children’s family member(s).
- Build resilience to the stigma of serious emotional disturbance for the child and family.
- Model and coach the strategies and interventions identified in the child’s crisis intervention plan for life situations with the child’s family and in the community.
- Assist in developing medication management skills for the child or family.
- Assist in developing personal hygiene and grooming skills that contribute to the child’s self image.
- Assist in developing socialization and citizenship skills.
Child or Adult Habilitation Services:
- Follow Implementation Plan or Outcome Achievement Plan developed by a case manager or Family Systems staff.
- Provide individualized services and supports that assist with the acquisition, retention, or improvement in skills related to living in the community.
- Provide services to provide for the daily needs of the individual that are necessary to meet the individual’s needs including the following supports:
- Adaptive skill development
- Assistance with activities of daily living
- Community inclusion
- Adult educational supports
- Social and leisure skill development
- Personal care
- Protective oversight and supervison
- Transportation (except to and from a day program)
Other:
- Provide a safe environment for the individuals being served.
- Report concerns for safety of individuals being services to DHS according to Mandatory Reporter requirements.
- Turn in expected program documentation in a timely and accurate manner.
POSITION AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONTEXT VARIABLES
- The position requires the performance of tasks requiring multiple communication abilities along with the ability to make independent judgments under the pressure of time and circumstance.
- Represents the organization in many different forums. Professionalism in actions and decorum as well as appropriate representation of the agency is expected.
- The position entails a high degree of accountability and consequence of error. Errors in judgment can result in severe consequences to the agency.
