Family Systems
Family Systems (FS) provides services to children and adults to meet a wide variety of behavioral and mental health needs. Family Systems provides mutliple sevices including individual, group and family therapy, skill building and respite. The services are primarily provided in Johnson and Linn counties with additional services in Iowa, Vinton, Cedar, Muscatine and Washington Counties.
Family Systems Services
Family Systems (FS) provides services to children and adults to meet a wide variety of behavioral and mental health needs. Family Systems provides multiple services including individual, group and family therapy, skill building and respite. The services are primarily provided in Johnson and Linn counties with additional services in Iowa, Vinton, Cedar, Muscatine and Washington counties. In all program areas, Family Systems therapists work on a one-to-one ratio with individual family members or with the entire family, depending on their specific needs. More than one therapist may be involved, depending on the frequency and intensity of services. Most of our therapists are licensed or have credentials in the field of social work and all have maintained a positive reputation within the eight-county region that we serve. Our services are simultaneously child-focused and systemic in nature. Family Systems is a partner agency with Iowa City Community School District (ICCSD) in the Safe School Healthy Student Initiative. Family Systems provides services with the ICCSD schools through case management and school based mental health services. Mental Health Counseling and Therapy Family Systems provides therapy services to children, adults, couples, families and groups. Our professional staff consists of licensed social workers, licensed mental health counselors, and licensed marriage and family therapists with a variety of therapeutic specialisties. Case Management Family Systems is providing case mangement services to eight elementary schools, including: Hoover, Longfellow, Lemme, Shimek, Horn, Weber, Wickham and Lincoln. Students with significant mental health concerns may access on-site, school-based case management services. Through these services families and students may receive support with referrals to mental health services, transportation to appointment, support for student during class day, communication between mental health providers and teachers, support with transitions, etc. Partners include Family Systems, United Action for Youth, ICCSD Family Resource Centers, and ICCSD case management staff. School Based Mental Health Services Family Systems is also providing school-based mental health services in the following schools: Coralville Central, Hills, Horn, Kirkwood, Lemme, Lincoln, Longfellow, Lucas, Mann, Penn, Roosevelt, Shimek, Twain, Van Allen, Weber, Wickham, Wood, Northwest Junior High, North Central Junior High and West High School. Students may access on-site school-based mental health services, with parent consent and a referral from their school counselor. These services will be available to support students in addressing mental health concerns that are causing a significant barrier to their learning. School-based services may include on-site individual counseling, group counseling, remedial services, and/or play therapy. These services would be supported through families’ private insurance. However, limited funds are available for families that are uninsured or under-insured. Children's Mental Health Waiver Services Students may access on-site school-based mental health services, with parent consent and a referral from their school counselor. These services will be available to support students in addressing mental health concerns that are causing a significant barrier to their learning. School-based services may include on-site individual counseling, group counseling, remedial services, and/or play therapy. These services would be supported through families’ private insurance.
